Yushan Li

I study CS + Cognitive Science at UC Berkeley on a full Shelby Davis Scholarship. In 2024–25 I was the first junior hire at Hooglee — Eric Schmidt's video AI startup — owning product from day one to Series A: shipped search & discovery, account system, admin dashboard, ran a 200+ creator influencer program, and won the internal hackathon.

But who wears just one hat? I also spent a year as Head TA running Berkeley's largest engineering startup class, sent 500+ founders-in-training to Korea for the first Global Student Startup Competition, and currently research X's open-source rec-sys and help build the AgentHLE benchmark.

Say hi at yushanli [at] berkeley.edu!

Grew up in China, went to United World College in 🇧🇦 where I studied Cultural Anthropology and discovered that everywhere is home if you stay long enough. 20+ countries and counting — I'm a Shelby Davis Scholar, which means I believe borders are mostly an administrative inconvenience.

I figure skate on the Cal team. I also used to be a national champion in artistic swimming — that was another life.

I paint. I made this logo & banner. I find it mildly embarrassing when people don't know what Cognitive Science is.

Fourth-year at Berkeley. Researching X's open-source rec-sys, building AgentHLE, and figuring out what comes after graduation in December 2026.
